Using Anki SRS with Japanese

Hello all! Please follow these directions to setup Anki and import Videocast learning decks.

We highly recommend every learner set up Anki. It doesn't take too long to set up and it is such an amazing program that you just have to have it. Don't let the simplicity fool you, this program works really well for helping you remember things!

1.

Download and Install Anki program:

Import New Decks
Go to File -> Import and select the akpg file that you downloaded from Videocast.

Try it Out
Click on the new deck you imported and click study now. For each flashcard, look at the flashcard and then click show answer. Then you have to decided how well you understand the flashcard. If you don't think you know it well, then it will show it to you again soon. If you know it well, then it won't remind you some time later.
(hint: you can press "R" to replay the audio so you can hear it again. You can also click "ctrl + v" to record your own audio and see how your audio matches up against the speaker!)

Sync Anki to your Phone
Syncing your decks is fairly straight-forward as there are direct upload options as well as cloud options. Please see the following link for updated information:

Study Frequently (Not Hard!)
We're so used to cramming a lot of information for work or school, but it's better to learn and remember things over time. Anki will prioritize what flashcards you should review. For best results, open your flashcard program everyday and spend a little bit of time reviewing the flashcards. Over time, Anki will make sure you don't forget anything!
