Visit Japan - Ishikawa

Ishikawa, Japan - Gotta visit em’ all!
Today I will be introducing the fabulous Ishikawa Prefecture.
石川県 - Ishikawa Prefecture
Ishikawa is located on the Sea of Japan coast. It consists of the Noto Peninsula in the north, and the capital is Kanazawa City.
Ishikawa is the perfect place if you want to go on a date as there are many romantic, beautiful attractions and places to visit. For example, the Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa City is one of Japan’s “three most beautiful landscape gardens.” You will surely appreciate the beauty of the meticulous landscaping and the breathtaking view.
There are also many museums in Kanazawa to stroll around with your significant other. One of the most popular museums in Kanazawa is the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, which exhibits many of the coolest contemporary works from Japan and all over the world. One installation includes Leandro Erlich’s “Swimming Pool,” which is a “pool” that creates an illusion of people being underwater.
Are you or is your date a fan of ninjas? Or how about samurais? Well good news for you, because Ishikawa is home to Myoryuji Temple, also known as the Ninja Temple, and Nagamachi, which is Kanazawa’s former samurai district.
The Ninja Temple wasn’t actually built by ninjas, but is nicknamed that due to their hidden tunnels, secret rooms, traps, and the confusing corridors.
In Nagamachi, you can walk around the preserved historic area where saumrais used to live. There are restaurants, museums, and other attractions you can visit here as well.
Perhaps if you’ve had enough of walking, you may want to rent a car to go for a nice drive. Ishikawa is the home to Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, one of the only three places in the world where you can drive you car on sand. It’s about 8km long, and you can stop by to relax by the beach as well.
Not really into beautiful scenery or museums? Maybe you want to see something weird? Then you may want to check out Kannonin Kagaji.
In the 1980s, when Japan’s economy was booming due to the bubble economy, this theme park was built along with many others in hopes of a big profit. However after the bubble popped, many theme parks including this one went out of business. This Buddhist-themed park returned back to business under new ownership recently, and you can check out the huge Buddha and the eerie room filled with over 1,000 golden statues.
Not a fan of that? I don’t blame you, but I’m sure everybody can go for some great food.
Oden is street food with several ingredients, including boiled eggs, daikon raddish, and fish cakes simmered in a flavored broth. It’s a popular dish in the winter, and Ishikawians love oden. In fact, they’re known to have one of the highest oden consumption rate in all of Japan, and you can see why:
Ishikawa is also known for their crab, so in this region it’s included in their oden. It’s not a common ingredient, but after seeing this it’s something I will always want in my oden. Oden is the best when you can share it with someone, so what are you waiting for? Let’s go on a trip to Ishikawa!
